Responsibilities
Suncoast Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents, ages 11–17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family and social challenges. The dedicated professionals at Suncoast Behavioral Health Center provide quality mental health treatment for children. The program establishes healthy behaviors and prepares children to transition back home.
The facility is looking for a Cook
. The overall functions of this position is to prepare and serve regular and special diets to patients and employees under the supervision of the Director of Dietary Services. Maintains a clean environment. Flexible hours. Must be patient and tolerant toward staff, patients and patient family members.
- Maintains high standards of food handling and cleanliness.
- Uses cook, chill or conventional cooking methods to prepare quality foods in sufficient quantities.
- Adheres to standardization of recipes and portion control to prevent food waste and control cost.

- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
- Serv Safe Certification or Equivalent preferred.
- One (1) year experience in a food services in a health care facility preferred.
- Requires enough basic education to understand and follow standard practice or written instructions.
- Ability to work a variable schedule to include some weekends.
- Good physical health and good mental attitude is essential. Stands and walks most of the day. Handles and manipulates equipment. Stoops and reaches for equipment lift and carries food and kitchen equipment. Tastes and smells food to determine quality.
- Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening to work in Healthcare (AHCA) and Pre-employment Drug Test.
- Must be familiar with inventorying, cooking by recipes, quantity cooking and following written procedures.
- Food handling and sanitation.
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment usage.
