Sales Associate​/Consultant

Overview

La‑Z‑Boy is seeking motivated sales associates to join our retail teams. The role focuses on driving furniture and accessory sales, supporting our Design program, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

• Sell furniture, accessories, and services using the La‑Z‑Boy selling process.
• Promote the Design program and assist the Designer in achieving sales goals.
• Execute the full selling cycle: approach, rapport building, needs discovery, portfolio presentation, objection handling, closing, and follow‑up.
• Maximize store promotions, marketing initiatives, and grassroots programs.
• Schedule professional home consultations, present customized room designs, and recommend installation services.
• Support design‑related functions in the store.
• Provide high‑level customer service, using Podium and other systems, and resolve issues.
• Assist in training new peers on product knowledge and selling process.
• Maintain visual appearance of displays, catalogs, and design center fabrics.
• Accurately complete order information, collect deposits, manage customer records, and handle On‑Point system logs.
• Schedule deliveries, maintain record of the company’s minimum wage compliance, and handle opening/closing of the store.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous selling experience with strong closing skills preferred.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage time, prioritize, and work as part of a team.
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and use hands repeatedly.
• Background and drug screen clearance.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field.

Training pay: $16 per hour for 2‑6 weeks (no commission). After training the expected annual earnings are $45,000‑$65,000+ including base, bonus, and commission. Post‑training base pay is $13 per hour (varies by location); commissions are uncapped: 3% on Design sales and 2% on other sales. A quarterly bonus of up to $1,500 is available based on meeting sales goals.
