GENERAL PURPOSE The Mechanic IV will work under little to no supervision while demonstrating proficient knowledge on repair and maintenance of industrial laundry, and other equipment. This position is expected to diagnose, repair, and rebuild equipment while understanding and interpreting equipment blueprints and operation principles. In addition, performs preventive maintenance work and inspections of all equipment, prepares/maintains work records and reports of all work done.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Must follow preventive safety protocol as established by the company
Demonstrate safety awareness throughout the workday
Promote teamwork and common goal culture with all company employees
Troubleshoot and repair complex equipment/system malfunctions with minimal downtime
Fine-tune automated systems for required production efficiency and quality
Demonstrate leadership skills and supervise maintenance productivity on the plant floor
Mentor and train mechanics with hands-on and classroom settings to help them perform their roles better and establish a team atmosphere
Plan and layout projects, installation of equipment and all associated requirements and make value-driven recommendations
Perform, teach, and promote high-quality work with plant preventive maintenance program
Submit parts requests by looking up part in the manufacturer’s parts book, from the parts room shelf, or online
Maintain and improve building and equipment up to specifications of “show plant”Operation of machine and equipment for diagnostic purposes
Perform major welding, plumbing, and project work Perform team leader duties in his/her absence
Help others at all levels completing any laundry tasks
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
QUALIFICATIONSPreferably (5) five or more years of experience and/or training in industrial/commercial laundry equipment repair and maintenance or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
High school diploma or equivalent
Has certificates of completion for boiler, compressor, ironing lines, and tunnel washer automated systems training.
Ability to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
Able to install, troubleshoot, analyze and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatically operated equipment with little to no assistance or supervision
Able to read and interpret equipment and site blueprints to promote rapid failure recoveries
Able to use power tools, scissor/man-lifts, hand trucks and forklifts
Experience using high level diagnostic equipment to properly troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and make appropriate repairs
Competent gas, ARC and MIG welder
Able to operate all machinery and equipment for diagnostic purposes
Effectively lift and handle various objects weighing up to 60 pounds
