Position Overview
Woodard & Curran is hiring a Maintenance Electrician for the Bradenton, Florida wastewater utility. The role involves routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on all electrical equipment.
Responsibilities- Installing and setting up new equipment
- Installing conduit and wiring
- Troubleshooting and repairing complex control circuits
- Maintaining accurate documentation of modifications, calibrations, and installations of instruments, control devices, and electrical equipment
- Assisting other staff members under the direction of the Maintenance Chief
- Performing housekeeping duties in the maintenance department and on maintenance vehicles
- Following safety, operating, and emergency response procedures, including OSHA standards, the National Electric Safety Code, PPE, LOCK-OUT/TAG-OUT, and local building codes
- Five years of experience in industrial/commercial electrical systems, instrumentation, or electronics
- Valid Journeyman electrician license
- Experience with low and medium voltage electrical equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong scientific and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read, interpret, and record data from meters, gauges, scales, panels, and other equipment
- Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions
- Physical work capability: 18‑inch reach, 30‑inch reach, squatting, kneeling percentages, and lifting 40 lbs over 25 ft
- Valid Florida driver’s license, safe driving record, ability to operate vehicles with automatic transmission and four‑wheel drive
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and be on‑call for emergencies
- Work in outdoor and indoor environments with noise, temperature, and climatic conditions, and endurance for adverse weather
- Successful completion of background check, pre‑placement physical and drug screen
- Monday–Friday, 1st shift; flexibility for extended shifts to meet seasonal demands
- Availability for standby duty and on‑call work during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
$38–$42 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Annual project bonuses and safety bonuses are awarded each year.
