The Lead HVAC Mechanic is responsible for leading and managing HVAC and refrigeration projects, ensuring that all systems are installed, maintained, and repaired to the highest standards. Oversees HVAC activities, coordinates with other maintenance technicians, and provides exceptional service to all levels of the organization, patients, families, and visitors. Always demonstrates Service Excellence standards.
General Responsibilities- Lead and mentor maintenance technicians, ensuring they adhere to best practices and company standards. Provide guidance and training to junior technicians.
- Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems, including commercial and residential units. Ensures all work complies with relevant codes and regulations.
- Performs complex troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify issues with HVAC and refrigeration systems. Develops and implements effective solutions to resolve problems.
- Manages and coordinates HVAC and refrigeration projects from start to finish. This includes scheduling, resource allocation, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Communicates effectively with leadership to understand facility needs, provide recommendations, and ensure satisfaction. Addresses any concerns or issues in a professional manner.
- Maintains accurate records of work performed, including service reports, inventory, and maintenance logs. Ensures all documentation is up-to-date and readily available.
- Adheres to all safety regulations and guidelines. Promote a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and conducting regular safety training for the team.
- Performs corrective and preventive maintenance on commercial ice machines, walk‑in coolers and freezers.
- Inspect, repair and maintain eyewash stations throughout the hospital.

- High School Diploma required
, Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Minimum of 5 years of experience as an HVAC‑R technician, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Driver’s license required
. - Valid refrigerant handling certification required (Within 90 days of start date or completion of orientation, whichever comes first). Additional certifications (e.g., NATE) are a plus.
- Other:
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC‑R and refrigeration systems.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in various environmental conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills and customer service skills required.
