Job Description & How to Apply Below

Summary

Our retail client headquartered in Sarasota is modernizing its technology organization into an AI-first, product-led development capability. The Development Manager is a leadership role that sits at the intersection of technical execution, delivery management, and people development.

This role owns how great solutions get built, by whom, and at what quality - while Product Managers own what gets built and why. You will spend the majority of your time leading people, managing delivery across our development organization, making sound architectural judgments, and engaging in development and support activities yourself when the situation requires it.

If you are energized by building high-performing teams, bringing delivery discipline to complex programs, and staying technically sharp while doing it - this role was designed for you.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Directly manage a team across data and integration disciplines
  • Write and deliver annual and mid-year performance appraisals; set clear, measurable goals tied to business outcomes
  • Build a team culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technical craftsmanship
  • Identify skill gaps and partner with HR and leadership on training, hiring, and role evolution
  • Provide coaching and mentorship across both local and offshore/nearshore team members
  • Champion AI-assisted development tooling adoption within the team
  • Maintain a real-time view of team capacity across FTE developers and the managed contractor pool
  • Manage delivery accountability across both FTE and managed service contractor resources, including SOW adherence and quality oversight
  • Allocate developers to work streams based on skills, availability, and business priority
  • Manage and remove blockers before they become delivery misses
  • Drive adoption of modern delivery practices: CI/CD pipelines, Git Hub-based workflows, automated testing, and deployment standards
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards that govern how code is written, reviewed, tested, and deployed
  • Participate in architecture and design reviews; provide technical guidance on Azure and integration solutions
  • Maintain hands‑on capability to contribute to or review code across the stack when needed
  • Diagnose production issues and coordinate with appropriate parties on resolution
  • Maintain and evolve application monitoring practices and on‑call support frameworks
  • Champion secure coding practices and SDLC adherence across the team
Qualifications and Requirements
  • 8+ years in software development, with at least 2 years in engineering management, delivery leadership or tech lead role
  • Hands‑on development experience primarily in Azure Logic Apps, Data Factory, Functions, SSIS, SQL and C#; able to review, guide, and contribute to code
  • Demonstrated experience managing a team of developers including contractors and offshore resources
  • Track record of writing and delivering performance appraisals and conducting meaningful career development conversations
  • Strong communication skills – equally comfortable presenting delivery metrics to a VP and running a developer retrospective
Preferred Skills
  • Retail or supply chain domain experience (apparel retail a plus)
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools (Git Hub Copilot or similar) in daily development and team workflows
  • Familiarity with Oracle Retail, Oracle Fusion, or similar ERP platforms
