Overview
GENERAL PURPOSE The Logistics Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the company’s continued success. This position requires a dependable person who is safety-focused, flexible, and cooperative. You must have all the skills of a CDL A Driver and possess the ability to mentor team members in the Logistics Department.
Responsibilities- Assists the Logistics Supervisor ensuring that Safety is the #1 focus within the operation of the logistics department team.
- May assist with overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the logistics team.
- Maintain focus on Safety, Cost Control & Customer Service for the Logistics team.
- Complete driver duties as well, such as driving local routes (Straight Truck & Tractor Trailer) as required to get the job done.
- Assist the Logistics Supervisor with the training of drivers on company policies & procedures and help monitor compliance.
- Assist manager with ensuring that all trips are assigned and covered.
- Inspect equipment to ensure that Safety & mechanical items are in good working order.
- Maintain a presence in the parking area and on the dock at the plant.
- Spot-check the loading of straight trucks/trailers to ensure DVRs are being done correctly.
- Coordinate services & repairs to the equipment with the Logistics Supervisor.
- Assist with auditing/spot checking equipment after use to ensure fuel, cleanliness, and no damages.
- Ensure loading docks are safe, clean, and organized.
- Operate a company-owned delivery vehicle on established or alternate routes as scheduled.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily.
- Provide reports about maintenance issues related to the delivery vehicle or other concerns.
- Be punctual and stringent about timings and avoid delays in deliveries.
- Be prepared to work in any traffic pattern, severe weather, and strict deadlines according to business needs.
- Provide professional and courteous service to customers and their staff.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- Maintain full uniform provided by the company.
- One (1) year of Supervisory experience overseeing a staff of drivers
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class A driver’s license for at least 2 years, clean MVR & a current DOT medical card
- Must pass a criminal background check, a drug screen for pre-employment and random programs
- Able to accept alternative plant assignments, willing to travel and attend training seminars, if required
- Knowledge of all DOT Regulations
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work independently, be responsible for route, and work unsupervised 90% of the time
- Clear understanding of the importance of meeting deadlines and commitments
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
Inside work: protected from weather conditions. Outside work: exposure to weather. Both inside and outside work: activities occur in various environments. Conditions vary for extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, potential hazards, terminal viewing, atmospheric conditions, oils exposure, respirator use, physical stamina, and other environmental factors. Generally, duties may involve frequent, occasionally, or rarely exposure depending on activity.
Essential Abilities And Functions- Physical:
Standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, reaching, seeing, balancing, lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs, pushing, pulling, grasping, moving, and fine motor skills as required. - Reasoning and problem solving, reading, writing, and performing basic mathematical calculations.
- Adhering to deadlines under pressure and learning or retaining technical information.
- Interacting with customers or visitors as part of the role.
