Job Description
Position Overview

The Printer Operator works closely with the Manufacturing Supervisor to ensure the printing a quality product that meets or exceeds customer expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain activities of the printer/decorator beverage cans with a focus on optimizing safety, quality, productivity, and spoilage.
  • Operate, safely operate, and maintain decorator equipment.
  • Communicate all pertinent information between the supervisor, quality control, departments, and between shifts about changes to equipment, production problems or any other related information.
  • Assist, train and/or coach all new operators as needed.
  • Apply skills and methods to improve plant production.
  • Inspect product to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Maintain quality and modify existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal efficiencies.
  • Complete and administer necessary documentation such as production sheets, schedules, monthly SAFE cards, accident/near‑miss/hazard reporting, and process control sheets.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school education or GED.
  • 2–3 years of experience in setting, operating, or adjusting printing decorators in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to operate, read, understand, and use measuring color‑density gauges and computers.
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including nights, weekends and overtime, to cover absences or provide additional support.
Preferred Requirements
  • 10‑Hour OSHA certification.
  • Experience operating a Rutherford printer.
  • Experience in the beverage packaging industry.
  • Ink toning knowledge.

  • Computer skills and working knowledge of various Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions
  • Generally works in a manufacturing environment.
  • May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, product ink/additives, and cleaning chemicals.
  • May be exposed to climbing, oven heat, and tight spaces.
  • Production noise level is frequently loud.
Possible Equivalent Military Titles
  • Painter, Printer.
