Deerwood Bank is hiring a full‑time Teller I (36+ hours per week) to work in its Brainerd, MN branch. This position is responsible for proper handling of teller work, cash, balancing, deposits, checks, payments, and promotion of bank products and services.
HoursMonday‑Friday; shifts between 7:15 am‑6:00 pm; rotating Saturdays 8:15 am‑12:15 pm.
Starting Pay Rate$17.75‑$19.50 per hour;
Saturdays are paid at double time.
- Assist customers and staff with various retail, operations and customer service support.
- Receive customer deposits for all accounts and payments, verifying balances and required identification.
- Maintain currency and coin supply within bank policy.
- Maintain balancing records within acceptable limits.
- Use security equipment and observe safety precautions.
- Perform tasks such as verifying balances, balancing ATM, ordering checks, documenting address changes, answering phones, accessing safe deposit boxes, branch capture, redeeming savings bonds, buying and selling foreign currency, preparing cashier checks, selling gift and reloadable cards, issuing temporary cards, wire transfers, verifying mail and night depository bags and envelopes, keeping accurate logs and supporting the bank’s service reputation.
- Cross‑sell and introduce new services to customers following branch goals and regulatory guidance.
- Open and close the bank following proper security procedures.
- Other duties and responsibilities as management may assign.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent customer service and teamwork skills.
- Ability to prioritize and make on‑spot decisions regarding customer transactions, balancing satisfaction with risk of loss or fraud.
- In‑depth knowledge of all bank deposit products, policies and services.
- Basic knowledge of bank loan and investment products.
- Operational proficiency with office equipment: computer, keyboard, fax, scanner/copier, printer, phone system, spreadsheets, database and presentation software.
- Alertness to fraudulent activity and reporting to appropriate personnel.
- Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, positive attitude and pleasant personality.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and independent judgement.
- Strong organization, prioritization, adaptability and flexibility.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and learn quickly while maintaining high accuracy.
- High school diploma or GED; cash handling and customer service experience preferred.
