Position Title: Music & Tech Integration Teacher (K-4)

Department/Building: Harrison Elementary School

Reports to: Building Principal – James Conrad

Assignment: 2026‑2027 School Year – Ongoing

Hours: 8 per day, Monday through Friday (184 Duty Days), 0.6 FTE Music & 0.4 FTE Tech Integration

Salary Range: $46,936 – $90,238 (based on education and experience; wages outlined in the Certified Master Contract on the district website)

Union: Ed MN

FLSA: Overtime Exempt

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the teacher will develop students' understanding and appreciation of the art of music, including listening to a wide range of musical genres, periods, and styles, while identifying, promoting, and developing each student's talents in vocal and instrumental musical expression. This position will teach Music three days a week and Tech Integration two days a week.

The tech portion of this FTE will focus on ISTE standards.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and administer music education curriculum consistent with district goals.
  • Develop and administer tech education curriculum consistent with district goals.
  • Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
  • Develop a balanced music program and schedule lessons to ensure students have adequate time for preparation, rehearsal, and instruction.
  • Create tech lessons that demonstrate student learning and understanding under ISTE standards.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student musical learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including students with special needs.
  • Utilize a repertoire of all types of music literature, as appropriate.
  • Use district tech curriculum and resources.
  • Plan, coordinate rehearsals, and direct students in musical programs and performances outside the classroom.
  • Continue to acquire professional knowledge and stay current with developments in the educational field through seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or research.
  • Maintain accurate record‑keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievements, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
  • Encourage parental involvement and communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ensure student conduct conforms to school standards and district policies, establishing a productive learning atmosphere during practice, rehearsal, and performances.
  • Coordinate with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Select, requisition, and maintain appropriate music supplies and instrumental equipment, maintaining inventory records and ensuring equipment is in good working order.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • MN State Certification as a Music Teacher and endorsement in Computer, Keyboarding, and Related Technology Applications (Grades K‑12).
  • Previous elementary experience (preferred in both areas).
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of English grammar, word usage, spelling, literature, and other content areas taught.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and action plan formulation.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to play instruments and conduct students in playing instruments as needed.
  • Ability to instruct students in singing, harmonization, and chorus as needed.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self‑evaluation regarding performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others involved in the course of work.
