Salary Range: $$46,936 - $ 90,238 (Based on education and experience; wages outlined in Certified contract located on district website)

Position Summary

The Academic and Behavior Lead Teacher supports student success through leadership in academic programming, behavioral interventions, student support coordination, and compliance processes. This role collaborates closely with staff, families, and administrators to ensure students receive effective instructional and behavioral supports that promote achievement and positive school experiences.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of student support plans, evaluations, interventions, and related documentation.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, counselors, specialists, and administrators to ensure student needs are appropriately addressed through coordinated supports and services.
  • Facilitate and coordinate team meetings involving educators, support staff, administrators, and outside agencies as appropriate.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and support to new teachers and staff regarding instructional practices, behavioral supports, curriculum resources, and classroom management strategies.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and district requirements related to student support services, accommodations, interventions, and due process procedures.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of required documentation, assessments, plans, and meeting processes.
  • Coordinate and support the effective use of intervention resources, instructional supports, adaptive tools, and related services.
  • Collaborate with district lead teachers and administrators to plan and deliver professional learning opportunities for educational assistants and staff throughout the school year.
  • Support building-wide efforts related to student engagement, academic achievement, and positive behavior interventions.
  • Serve as a resource to staff regarding academic interventions, behavior supports, accommodations, and inclusive practices.
Site-Based Job Responsibilities

(Responsibilities may vary by building and program needs and are not intended to be all-inclusive.)
  • Coordinate student services, communication, program structures, and collaboration among staff and families.
  • Monitor and maintain student records and related documentation.
  • Support student intake processes and provide guidance to staff regarding procedural requirements and timelines.
  • Assist in managing crisis situations and consult with staff regarding behavior intervention strategies and supports.
  • Coordinate and administer student assessments as appropriate.
  • Serve as a district representative during student support and planning meetings as assigned.
  • Schedule and facilitate child study team meetings, intervention meetings, and departmental meetings.
  • Attend and support crisis response meetings.
  • Coordinate student transition planning between grade levels, buildings, or programs.
  • Assist with caseload distribution and service coordination.
  • Support transportation planning and communication related to student needs as necessary.
  • Supervise, schedule, and support paraprofessionals in collaboration with the Building Principal.
  • Coordinate parent requests for evaluations and support the completion of required referral and intake processes.
  • Coordinate district and state assessment processes, including scheduling and organization as assigned.
  • Maintain and organize resources related to instructional modifications, accommodations, interventions, and behavior supports for staff use.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the administrator that align with program coordination and building needs.r
QUALIFICATIONS:

Current Minnesota Special Education license
Knowledge of Restorative Practices and/or willingness to learn/participate in training around Restorative Practices
Administrative license, preferred
Minimum of three years Special Education teaching experience
