Additional weekend incentive of $1.25 an hour
Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. The role includes emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, polishing floors, and using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbers. The technician must demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools, and techniques in a healthcare environment and provide a clean, sterile environment for patients/residents and staff.
The technician may be responsible for patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet health standards. Proper protective equipment must be worn following guidelines. Storage, equipment, and carts should remain well-stocked, clean, and tidy. The technician will use pagers and other technology as required and may assist in laundry areas.
Physical activities include considerable use of arms and legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials. Ability to lift up to 40-50 lbs and move variable weight limits is required. The position requires prolonged standing and may expose the worker to noise from equipment.
Work hours vary with patient/resident needs and may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
- Ability to use computer and prior cleaning experience is helpful.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods, and cleaning chemicals is helpful.
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
- Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
