Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Essentia Health is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures, prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, and ensure accurate image acquisition and documentation. You'll collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other care team members to deliver safe, patient-centered care. Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of nuclear medicine imaging procedures according to physician orders and departmental protocols
• Prepare, calculate, and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately
• Operate gamma cameras, SPECT/SPECT-CT, and related nuclear medicine imaging equipment
• Position patients and ensure proper imaging technique to obtain high-quality diagnostic images
• Verify patient identity, explain procedures, and provide compassionate, patient-centered care
• Obtain relevant clinical history and enter accurate information into the electronic medical record
• Monitor patients during and after procedures, recognizing and reporting any adverse reactions or complications
• Adhere to radiation safety principles, including ALARA, and follow all regulatory requirements for handling radioactive materials
• Perform and document quality control and routine maintenance checks on imaging equipment
• Maintain accurate records of radiopharmaceutical inventory, usage, and disposal
• Collaborate with radiologists, cardiologists, nurses, and other team members to coordinate and optimize patient care
• Participate in departmental quality improvement, safety initiatives, and process optimization
• Stay current with advances in nuclear medicine technology and participate in continuing education as required

• Patient positioning and immobilization techniques
• ECG-gated cardiac nuclear imaging (e.g., myocardial perfusion studies)
• Quality control procedures for nuclear medicine equipment
• Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation
• Radiopharmacy inventory management and recordkeeping
• Knowledge of federal, state, and accrediting body regulations for nuclear medicine
• Intravenous (IV) access and injection skills
• Basic patient assessment and monitoring
• Strong communication and patient education skills
• Team collaboration in a hospital or outpatient imaging setting
• Attention to detail and problem-solving in a clinical imaging environment
