Performs highly technical and complex network administration throughout the organization under the general direction of the Technology Director. Responsible for managing and maintaining computer network infrastructure and connectivity. Ensures the network is secure, reliable, and available to meet the needs of the organization and various end users. Performs tasks such as installing and configuring network hardware and software, monitoring network performance, troubleshooting network issues, and providing technical support to end users.
2026 Hiring Range: $44.89 - $50.01 per hour depending on qualifications.
2026 Pay Range: $44.89 - $53.43 per hour.

Up to $59.83 per hour.

- Responsible for management of network operations throughout the organization.
- Installs, configures, and maintains complex network infrastructures, including LANs, WANs, VPNs, ethernet, wireless, and fiber networks.
- Manages firewalls including configuration, patches, updates, and monitoring.
- Serves a primary role for network security and cybersecurity.
- Provides project management and oversight as needed for assigned projects.
- Ensures that the organization's networks are secure and protected from unauthorized access, viruses, malware, and other security threats. Regularly updates and patches network systems to ensure they are protected from vulnerabilities.
- Monitors network performance to identify and troubleshoot issues before they cause adverse impacts on the network or degrade performance.
- Manages connectivity including wired internet, PRI, TLS, wireless connections (WiFi), etc.
- Manages VLANs – Data, Voice, DMZ, Public, Police/CJIS, Airport/FAA, Utility, SCADA, etc.
- Manages VPNs for remote access as well as point‑to‑point connections as needed.
- Troubleshootsnetwork issues by identifying and resolving network issues, including hardware failures, software bugs, and connectivity problems.
- Implements and maintains network security protocols, including firewalls, intrusion detection, and prevention systems.
- Develops and maintains network documentation, diagrams, and operating procedures.
- Manages technology implementations and collaborates with staff, vendors, and contractors to plan and complete technology‑related projects.
- Performs regular backups and ensures network integrity, redundancy, and recoverability.
- Provides on-call support for after‑hours technical outages when necessary.
- Provides advanced technical support and troubleshooting for end users.
- Serves as a backup support role for the Technology Coordinator and System Administrator.
- Performs other duties as assigned or when necessary.
- Advanced knowledge of networking protocols and technologies.
- Advanced knowledge of network infrastructure components such as routers, switches, firewalls.
- Experience with network security protocols, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and network segmentation.
- Knowledge of network virtualization technologies, such as VLANs and virtual switches and network function virtualization (NFV).
- Proficient in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools and processes.
- Experience with virtualization platforms, such as VMware or Hyper‑V.
- Experience with storage area networks (SAN) and their operation.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms.
- Ability to be creative, innovative, and flexible in managing evolving technology trends and needs.
- Strong analytical, organizational, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently and to collaborate as a member of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Special Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in network administration, system administration, or related position - preferably in local government.
