We have exciting opportunities available for both Cook I and Cook II positions.
Job Summary:The Cook is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality food preparation, using standardized recipes and portion control, having all food ready at appropriate times, while continually checking and recording food temperatures. The Cook will prepare daily meals following all sanitary and safety requirements, and will suggest menu, recipe and process changes, as well as evaluate quantity of food needed for production.
Qualifications:- Experience with food preparation, handling, storage, meal planning, nutrition, and sanitation.
- Knowledge of standardized recipes, food production, measurements, and recipe calculations.
- Ability to prepare quality meals while following food safety, infection control, and sanitation guidelines.
- Experience with specialized diets preferred;
Serv Safe certification and knowledge of state and local regulations a plus. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work positively with management, team members, residents, and families.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while using sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Prepares food creatively, enhancing presentation and following portion control, while still meeting temperature guidelines. Follow all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Follow standardized recipes and daily production schedules. Offer ideas for new recipes.
- Great communication skills to help promote a positive working relationship with management, employees, residents, and resident’s family members, while displaying a great deal of patience, tact, and consideration. Listen to questions, complaints, and concerns, and follow up as appropriate.
- Assist with production and delivery for special functions such as resident events, funerals, open house, etc.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all team members, and other department members.
- Clean kitchen equipment, floors, and take out garbage as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
