TSG - The Sheridan Group seeks an Industrial Maintenance Technician to support our Manufacturing operations within the Engineering & Maintenance department. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and help optimize reliability and uptime. In our collaborative, high-performance culture, you'll work closely with cross-functional teams, take initiative on process improvements, and receive hands-on mentorship while contributing to critical, high-impact projects for our clients.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial manufacturing equipment, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures using schematics, manuals, diagnostic tools, and root-cause analysis to quickly restore production capability.
- Install, align, and commission new machinery, production lines, and support systems in coordination with the Engineering & Maintenance team and external vendors as needed.
- Conduct routine inspections, calibrations, and safety checks on production equipment, facility systems, and utilities to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and OEM documentation to plan and execute maintenance and repair activities accurately.
- Perform basic PLC and control system troubleshooting, including sensors, relays, VFDs, and HMIs, and coordinate with engineers for more complex programming issues.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including work orders, parts usage, and equipment history.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, production staff, and management to prioritize maintenance activities and support process improvements and reliability initiatives.
- Fabricate or modify parts using shop tools (e.g., welders, grinders, drill presses, lathes) to support repairs and equipment upgrades where appropriate.
- Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and regulatory requirements while promoting a culture of safe work practices within the Engineering & Maintenance department.
- Assist in developing and updating preventive maintenance plans, spare parts lists, and standard operating procedures to enhance equipment reliability and uptime.
- Provide occasional guidance and informal training to less experienced technicians and production staff on proper equipment care and basic troubleshooting.
Required Skills
- Industrial equipment maintenance and repair
- Mechanical systems troubleshooting (motors, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings)
- Basic to intermediate electrical troubleshooting (AC/DC, motor controls, sensors)
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems maintenance
- Basic PLC and control system troubleshooting
- Use of diagnostic tools (multimeters, vibration tools, thermal sensors)
- Welding, cutting, and basic fabrication skills
- Use of hand tools, power tools, and machine shop equipment
- Preventive maintenance planning and execution
- Root-cause analysis and problem-solving
- CMMS usage and maintenance recordkeeping
- Lockout/Tagout and industrial safety practices
- Communication and collaboration with engineering and production teams
