Repair Technician

Morson Edge are looking for a hands-on Repair Technician to join a busy aviation workshop in Braintree. This is a physical, practical role working in pairs to repair and maintain aviation safety equipment. Full product training is provided, and there's genuine long-term opportunity as you build competence. What You'll Do Repair support — Assist qualified technicians with repair, maintenance, calibration and testing of aviation safety equipment.

Follow procedures — Work to repair orders, technical instructions and strict quality standards. Use tools — Safely operate hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment. Two-person tasks — Handle, position, fold and compress materials with a partner. Inspection & testing — Support inspection and testing activities as directed. Documentation — Record completed work accurately and maintain repair paperwork. Quality reporting — Flag defects, deviations or non-conformances.

Workshop organisation — Maintain tools, storage and a tidy workspace. Safety compliance — Follow all health, safety and environmental requirements. What You Need Physical capability — Able to handle heavy materials and complete physical workshop tasks. Tool experience — Practical experience using hand tools and power tools. Process discipline — Comfortable following instructions and working within defined procedures. Communication — Good spoken/written English for instructions and documentation.

Teamwork — Able to work effectively with a partner and wider workshop team. Attention to detail — Strong focus on quality and safety. Willingness to learn — Practical mindset and interest in learning specialist repair processes. Useful but Not Essential Aviation/automotive/industrial experience Mechanic/fitter/assembler background NVQ Level 2/3 in mechanical engineering or maintenance Engineering drawings or experience with mechanical/hydraulic/electrical systems Basic IT for recording work activity
