Our client, a growing organization within the energy sector, is seeking an experienced Manager of Regulatory Affairs to lead regulatory strategy and advocacy efforts across New York and New England power markets. This is a highly visible role that will partner with industry stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and internal business leaders to support market competitiveness, asset optimization, and future growth initiatives.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of wholesale electricity markets, regulatory frameworks, and market design, along with the ability to influence key industry discussions and drive strategic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute regulatory strategies that support market competitiveness and maximize asset value.
  • Represent the organization in industry forums, trade associations, and stakeholder working groups.
  • Monitor, analyze, and advocate on state and local legislative and regulatory initiatives impacting energy markets.
  • Partner with consultants and internal stakeholders to align regulatory efforts with business objectives.
  • Support interconnection activities and regulatory aspects of future project development.
  • Track market trends, policy developments, and emerging issues, providing actionable insights to leadership.
  • Participate in market design discussions and shared governance processes within regional transmission organizations (RTOs) and independent system operators (ISOs).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve regulatory and market-related challenges.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of regulatory activities, filings, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Travel as needed to represent the organization in regulatory proceedings, industry meetings, and advocacy efforts.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Public Policy, Energy Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within electricity generation, wholesale power marketing, energy policy, or regulatory affairs.
  • Strong understanding of competitive wholesale power markets and market fundamentals.
  • Experience working with ISO and RTO market structures, particularly within New York and New England markets.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20-30% as needed.
