- Greet patients and visitors courteously while maintaining privacy and confidentiality
- Serve as a central communication source in patient care delivery
- Take complete and accurate information from patients and callers
- Perform check-in, registration, scheduling, demographic verification and referral entry
- Use computer systems to maintain accurate demographic and fiscal data
- Schedule, reschedule and cancel appointments
- Collect co-pays
- Monitor patient and visitor flow and resolve flow issues proactively
- Liaise between patients, practice staff and other areas to ensure optimal service delivery
- Maintain a clean and welcoming reception area, signage and displayed information
- Monitor reception-area audio or visual programming and volume
- Contact appropriate departments for repairs or services and follow through
- Arrange Spanish translation services when needed
- High School diploma or GED required
- 1-3 years related work experience required
- Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English
- Ability to comprehend and converse in English
- Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies
- Ability to interact respectfully with employees, professional staff and/or external contacts
- Ability to provide professional, service-oriented customer service and remain calm in stressful situations
- Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and perform required walking and standing
- Spanish translation services must be ensured for Spanish-speaking patients and employees when needed
Demonstrates strong customer service skills while managing patient interactions and maintaining confidentiality. Proficient in scheduling, registration, and using computer systems for accurate data management.
