A Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a special education day program. Serving students with diagnoses of serious emotional disturbance (SED) and intellectual developmental disability (IDD), with a specific emphasis on cultural responsiveness.

LOCATION:

Main office in Randolph. Direct Care staff based on the program they work in are designated to regions, travel for work at patient homes, school and within the community would be required.

Job Summary

The Youth Center Teacher is trained as Behavior Technicians and according to the Department of Early Education and Care. Teachers play a key role in shaping a preschool's educational experience. Promoting a positive learning classroom environment for Students. This role involves tasks such as overseeing classroom activities and implementing a curriculum and lesson plan that focuses on child development, including educational and behavioral skills.

Responsibilities include providing guidance and mentorship to students, classroom management, student performance assessment, communication with parents and the program director, collaboration with staff and parents, writing and implementing lesson plans, providing after‑school tutoring, and implementing behavioral intervention programs directed by Lead Teacher and Master Level Clinician Supervisor. Behavioral intervention services support youth dealing with diagnoses per DSM-5 or autism spectrum or other behavioral health diagnoses.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Teacher in managing classroom activities via curriculum and lesson plan. Preschool teachers teach basic skills such as colors, shapes, numbers, and letters; implement a curriculum focused on child development, including educational and behavioral skills. They create a stimulating and nurturing environment, using activities like rhyming games, sing‑alongs, and building blocks to teach different skills. They plan and carry out daily lesson plans that meet the needs of individual students, create schedules and routines to ensure children get enough rest and physical activity, monitor children for signs of emotional or developmental problems and report them to parents, keep records of each child's progress, interests, and routines, communicate with parents about behavior and development, work with parents to plan a curriculum that supports learning style and interests, discipline students when necessary, instruct and supervise children in social and developmental activities, provide one‑on‑one attention, organize classroom and plan intellectual activities, prepare snacks, teach numbers, colors, and shapes, help children get dressed and change diapers, evaluate social development and physical well‑being, serve as lead teacher when needed, coordinate lesson plans and activities, tutor after school for grade school academics, assist transitions to school, vocational school, or college, record progress notes and reports matching weekly expectations, complete specialty program documentation within 24 hours, verify attendance, maintain community activity plans and implement activities to meet physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs, provide nutritious snacks and meals, ensure equipment and facilities are clean, safe, and well maintained, schedule weekly and monthly programs, develop activities introducing math and literacy concepts, supervise children ensuring they are always watched, establish routines and provide positive guidance, implement positive discipline, communicate in a child‑friendly manner, observe progress, integrate special needs children respectfully, discuss problems and needs with professionals, keep program administration operational, and perform other duties as required.
