Job Description

The Braintree Public School District is seeking a Specialized Para educator for the ABLES Program at Liberty Elementary School. The ABLES program serves students with significant global developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, or intellectual impairments.

Responsibilities
  • Primary instructional support: delivery of discrete trial training, pivotal response training, natural environment teaching with continuous data collection, and task‑analyzed chaining procedures.
  • Assist students with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as toileting, feeding, mobility, and other supports for students who are not developmentally typical.
  • Deliver safety management and physical intervention as part of a student’s positive behavior support plan using the district’s Safety Care program. Para educator must complete Safety Care certification.
  • Reinforce and instruct learning with individual and small groups of students under the direction of the classroom teacher or specialist.
  • Assist in observing, data collection, and the use of positive behavior supports, including token economy systems, point charts, etc.
  • Demonstrate dependability, integrity, and respect for student differences and uphold high standards of conduct.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of an inclusive, student‑focused, and culturally proficient learning environment.
  • Maintain strict ethical standards of student and family confidentiality.
  • Assist professional staff in maintaining appropriate school behavior and discipline.
