Innovative Middle School Math Teacher — Inspire & Grow

Middle School Math Teacher Seeking a full-time, salaried position to teach 6th-8th grade Math. Reports to the Middle School Director.

What you’ll do:

Teach a combination of Math classes (4 classes total). Possible courses could include 6th-grade math, Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry Serve as an advisor

Lead one afternoon program in the arts for one or more seasons or coach an afternoon sport.

Apply practices in the classroom and other settings that foster equity, inclusion, and belonging among Thayer Academy community members

Engage in ongoing professional development

What we’re looking for:

A bachelor’s degree required, Masters (or higher) preferred in Education, Math or related field3-5 years teaching experience at the Middle School level preferred

Passion for working with middle schoolers, and desire to build relationships

Commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community

Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in the classroom, in curriculum, and in relationships with members of the school community

High level of comfort and experience with technology in an educational setting

Willingness to work on a team in a collaborative department

Ability to communicate and listen effectively with students and families

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Design Thinking or Project Based Learning curriculum development

Experience with Responsive Classrooms or other SEL curriculum and training

Experience with Pre-Algebra and Algebra teaching and/or tutoring

Willingness to incorporate metacognition into lessons

Competitive salary and benefits

Compensation:$70,000 - $86,000
