Middle School Math Teacher

Overview

Middle School Math Teacher — Seeking a full-time, salaried position to teach 6th–8th grade Math. Reports to the Middle School Director.

Type: Full Time
Salary: $70,000 – $86,000

• Teach a combination of Math classes (4 classes total). Possible courses could include 6th-grade math, Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry
• Serve as an advisor
• Lead one afternoon program in the arts for one or more seasons or coach an afternoon sport
• Apply practices in the classroom and other settings that foster equity, inclusion, and belonging among Thayer Academy community members
• Engage in ongoing professional development

• A bachelor’s degree required;
  Masters (or higher) preferred in Education, Math or related field
• 3–5 years of teaching experience at the Middle School level preferred
• Passion for working with middle schoolers and desire to build relationships
• Commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in the classroom, curriculum, and school relationships
• High comfort level with technology in an educational setting
• Willingness to work on a team in a collaborative department
• Ability to communicate and listen effectively with students and families

• Experience with Design Thinking or Project Based Learning curriculum development
• Experience with Responsive Classrooms or other SEL curriculum and training
• Experience with Pre-Algebra and Algebra teaching and/or tutoring
• Willingness to incorporate metacognition into lessons
