Position: Pastoral Assistant (PT or FT)

Pastoral Assistant (PT or FT), St. Cecilia Parish, Boston, MA.

REPORTS TO: Pastor & Pastoral Director of Operations

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW: Saint Cecilia Parish is a growing, welcoming Roman Catholic community in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston with approximately 3,500 registered and active households. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Pastoral Assistant position is a new role and can be a full-time or part-time role supporting the work of the parish’s Pastoral Ministers. The role will require Sundays, Catholic holidays, and evenings. Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with training for liturgical ministries
  • Coordination and planning for parish sacraments including Baptisms and Marriage
  • Assistance with Funerals
  • Assist with pastoral care
  • Participate on the OCIA Team and with the Adult Confirmation Program
  • Handle all aspects of paperwork and documentation that need to be sent to the Archdiocese
  • Manage sacramental records
  • Assist with Masses in various roles as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A confirmed and practicing Roman Catholic.
  • A deep understanding of the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • A passion for transmitting the Catholic faith and a desire to nurture the spiritual formation of parishioners of all ages.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written skills.
  • An advanced degree in theology or pastoral ministry preferred but not required.
