Salary Range: $74,345.00 - $90,000.00
Responsibilities- Teach 5 French classes to Middle School students
- Serve as an advisor for the 7th grade
- Lead the World Languages Department as Department Chair (if applicable)
- Apply practices in the classroom and other settings that foster equity, inclusion, and belonging among Thayer Academy community members
- Engage in ongoing professional development
- Participate in ongoing curricular review, documentation, and horizontal/vertical alignment as led by MS Associate Director for Academics
- Train new department members regarding the Academy’s standards, policies, and procedures
- Assist in observing and evaluating department members with MS Director, MS Associate Director for Academics and Assistant Head of School for Academics
- Encourage/recommend professional growth opportunities and support the inquiry goals process for each department member
- Developing your skills alongside an experienced Middle School Director, faculty, and leadership team

- A bachelor’s degree is required;
Master’s (or higher) preferred in Education, French, or a related field - 5-7 years of teaching experience at the Middle School level preferred
- Passion for working with middle schoolers and a desire to build relationships
- Commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in the classroom, in curriculum, and in relationships with members of the school community
- High level of comfort and experience with technology in an educational setting
- Willingness to work on a team in a collaborative department
- Ability to communicate and listen effectively with students and families
- Experience with Design Thinking or project-based learning curriculum development
- Experience with Responsive Classrooms or other SEL curriculum and training
- Willingness to incorporate metacognition into lessons
Salary Range: $74,345 - $90,000. Competitive salary and benefits.
