We have an exciting opportunity for a current Band 5 nurse in our department to be supported to develop to a Band 6. You will work through the Band 6 nurse framework and move into a Band 6 role on completion.
You will be supported by the Nurse Team Leader and three other Enhanced Support Nurses who are a Band 6 in the team. You will be clinically supervised by a Band 6 Nurse and line managed by the Team Manager.
Main duties of the jobWe are looking to appoint a nurse to a Band 5–6 development post to join the Mid & West Essex EST. This is a full‑time position of 37.5 hours a week. Flexible working is available.
You will receive in‑house training and support to develop skills and responsibilities attributable to a Band 6 nurse. Band 6 pay will be reflected on successfully completing the development process.
You will hold a clinical caseload, and also joint case hold with the MDT. You will receive regular supervision with the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills with CPD opportunities.

Person Specification QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/TRAINING- Relevant degree/Diploma within nursing or equivalent experience.
- NMC Nursing registration and adherence to the NMC Code.
- Postgraduate studies related to the field of Community LD Nursing or relevant experience.
- Experience of providing mentorship and/or clinical supervision.
- Experience with clinical risk management.
- Experience working with adults who have a learning disability.
- Experience of community working.
- Experience holding an autonomous caseload.
- Experience of research and audit.
- Experienced in the care coordination of complex cases, in line with national frameworks.
- Documented evidence of continuing professional development.
- Successful completion of post‑registration preceptorship, in line with the NMC Principles of preceptorship.
- Knowledge of legislation and policy relevant to the provision of health and social care for those with learning disabilities.
- Ability to work autonomously, in an organised manner, and set own priorities to ensure patient safety at all times.
- Ability to reflect on and critically appraise own performance.
- Proficient IT skills as required for the role.
- Knowledge of the STOMP/STAMP agenda and the ability to support with medications management in line with these.
- Knowledge and application of standardised assessments and outcome measures relating to LD Nursing.
- Experience working in partnership with stakeholders across the health and social care setting.
- Knowledge of the four pillars of NHS nursing practice (clinical practice, education, leadership, research and development).
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary£31,049 to £46,580 a year pro rata.
