• Provide efficient flow of patients to optimize appointment availability.
• Greet and escort patients to exam rooms according to policy and procedures.
• Prepare patients for examination; measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse rate, weight and height.
• Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures and/or additional tests specific to the department and advise patients on required pre‑visit testing.
• Ensure patient electronic medical record (EMR) is updated with accurate and up‑to‑date medical information, including demographics, medications, allergies and chief complaints.
• Keep patients informed of visit status, unforeseen delays and other relevant information.
• Reconcile medications and set up pending refills; discontinue prescriptions that are no longer active.
• Assist in resolving minor patient concerns and complaints as appropriate.
• Order and perform point‑of‑care testing on patients; classify as waived testing (e.g., strep, urine, hCG and glucose testing).

• High School diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited institution or a Medical Assistant Certification.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Understanding of testing procedures and factors influencing test results.
• Computer experience with word processing and spreadsheet programs, and electronic medical record (EMR) experience or aptitude to master the EMR.

• Graduate of a medical assistant certification program.
• Experience typically acquired through 1+ years in a clinical or customer service setting, as determined by the department.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty.
• Knowledge of reagent stability and storage.

The hourly pay for this role ranges from $16 to $25 per hour based on full‑time employment. Pay is based on factors such as local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications and other relevant criteria.
