Overview
The First Electronics Corporation (FEC) is an engineering and custom cable manufacturing company based in Boston, Massachusetts. FEC is AS9100D certified and provides custom cable design and assembly to defense and aerospace customers. Our major customers include leading defense contractors such as Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics and The United States Government. FEC has aggressive plans for growth and is seeking an experienced Testing Technician in the Quality Control Department.
The Testing Technician is responsible for testing cable and wire products to ensure they meet all quality standards, specifications, and regulations. This includes performing electrical tests and functional tests. The QC Tester must also be able to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications. This position requires the use of High Voltage, all safety guidelines, procedures, and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
The Testing Technician should be a respectful team player, focused, self-motivated, results-driven, and possess problem solving skills with sound judgment. The role is adaptable, detail oriented, and willing to embrace change while proactively adjusting plans. It requires effective communication with peers to increase awareness and ensure team success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct visual and electrical tests on cable and wire products to ensure they meet performance requirements.
- When required, perform functional tests on cable and wire products to ensure they operate as designed.
- Document the results of all tests. Create, update, compile, save and maintain documentation in internal databases.
- Detect and report unusual or non-conforming documentation, materials, conditions, or product to the Quality Manager.
- Work with various internal personnel and departments to communicate and resolve quality issues.
- Comply with company policies and the quality management system.
- Maintain and create a clean, uncluttered environment that reduces waste and optimizes productivity by following the 5S methodology (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain).
- When needed, troubleshoot nonconforming cables, fill out nonconformance reports, and communicate findings to the Quality Manager.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ year of experience in quality control, preferably in the cable and wire manufacturing industry.
- Experience performing electrical and functional testing is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient with computers and comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).

Visual requirements include the ability to see details at close range, color vision, depth perception, and focus.
