Position: Confirmation Coordinator for Grades 6 through 8 (PT)

Confirmation Coordinator for Grades 6 through 8 (PT), St. Edward and St. Jude Parish, Medfield-Norfo

General Description:

The Confirmation Coordinator administrates the catechetical program for Saint Edward and Saint Jude Parish and provides leadership to assist the parish youth and their families to build a solid foundation for spirituality, Christian living, ministry, and outreach. 20‑25 Hours per week;
Sunday evenings required from September to April. This position serves Saint Edward parish in Medfield and Saint Jude parish in Norfolk.

Responsibilities
  • Support and advocate the parish mission: to know, love and serve God
  • Support and advocate the goals and objectives within the Portrait of a Confirmed Student framework.
  • Recognize, support and meet the needs of all students
  • Engage students and families with meaningful and relevant opportunities and lessons to enrich and strengthen their relationship with Jesus
  • Connect and plan with pastor and staff to ensure consistency and success of faith formation programs
  • Develop and implement long and short‑term goals and objectives with the faith formation collaborative team
  • Coordinate and support delivery of the overall program to families
  • Evaluate and assess programmes at regular intervals for effectiveness and relevance
  • Coordinate content and logistics of the program including retreats, mission trips, and speakers
  • Select and curate materials to cultivate opportunities for lifelong spiritual growth for the entire family
  • Coordinate/assist in planning sacramental celebration of Confirmation
  • Recruit, support, and provide ongoing training for parents, catechists, and volunteers
  • Provide meaningful opportunities to experience and live our faith through seasonal events, prayer, service, and mission trips
  • Promote and provide opportunities for service when we gather in community and during Mass
  • Renew and maintain a middle school and high school youth group
  • Assist and support colleagues and facilitators as needed
  • Coordinate Faith In Action service opportunities
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Implement faith formation policies and guidelines.
  • Follow the archdiocesan mandates for safe church practices including CORI checks, Protecting God’s Children training for adults and the safety program for students in grades 6‑8.
  • Assist in preparing the Faith Formation budget.
  • Inform the pastor, parents/guardians, and volunteers about any changes or concerns through ongoing communication.
  • Maintain and update program handbooks.
  • Communicate regularly with the pastor and pastoral staff, Collaborative Council, attend staff meetings and collaborate on projects.
  • Communicate with parents and facilitators regularly and promote their active involvement.
Qualifications
  • Practicing Catholic fidelity to Church teaching.
  • Solid understanding of the teachings of the Catholic Church, especially the sacrament of Confirmation.
  • Previous experience working in a church is a plus.
  • Previous experience working with middle and high school youth is a plus.
  • Computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Flock Note, Canva, and Parish Soft.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability in oral and written communication.
