Substitute Nurse
The substitute nurse is a registered nurse who assumes the duties of the school nurse in the event of the school nurse's absence.
Reports to:
The Director of School Nursing Services and the chief administrator of the school building.
• Must have a valid license (MA RN) to practice as a registered nurse in Massachusetts. BSN preferred.
• Must complete an orientation program based upon guidelines issued from the Department of Public Health and the Braintree Public Schools.
• Must be certified and maintain current certification in CPR for healthcare professionals through a recognized provider (i.e. American Heart Association)
• Recent pediatric or community health experience
• Computer experience with electronic medical records
• Must complete a CORI check
• Must complete fingerprinting
Responsibilities:
• Responsible to ensure the smooth operation of the Health Office and provide appropriate nursing care to students and staff including the administration of medications.
• Responsible for proper documentation of student and staff encounters.
• Responsible to respond to special situations which may occur in the school or health office and to collaborate with the school nursing director as circumstances arise.
Payrate: $260/day
