The Delivery Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the delivery driver to ensure timely, accurate, and professional delivery of products to customers. This position involves assisting with unloading, securing loads, maintaining communication, and ensuring safety and vehicle upkeep throughout the delivery process.
Customer Service- Deliver a high level of customer service, representing the company professionally at all times.
- Assist the driver in bringing merchandise into customer locations, ensuring products and property are handled with care.
- Communicate effectively with customers and the warehouse team, providing updates on delivery status or issues such as incorrect directions or delays.
- Verify merchandise during pickups and deliveries, checking against packing slips and sales orders, and inspect for any damage.
- Maintain professional appearance and behavior, adhering to company dress code and hygiene standards.
- Assist the delivery driver in completing daily delivery routes by unloading merchandise using hand trucks or manual methods.
- Verify delivery items by calling out contents for the driver to check against paperwork.
- Properly secure loads on the truck to prevent damage during transit.
- Assist in warehouse functions as needed, including picking orders, loading, and unloading vehicles.
- Maintain awareness of road and environmental hazards, assisting the driver with vehicle maneuvering, including backing up and parking.
- Refrain from use of non-company electronic devices in the vehicle and ensure compliance with company safety policies.
- Identify and report vehicle defects such as burnt-out bulbs, tire damage, or fluid leaks to the driver and follow up if unresolved.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required at delivery locations.
- Participate in seasonal safety tasks such as snow removal.
- Maintain reliable attendance and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Support the upkeep of delivery vehicles by notifying drivers of maintenance issues and maintaining cleanliness and organization within the truck.
- Report mechanical or cleanliness concerns promptly to ensure vehicle readiness and safety.
- Manage electronic communications during deliveries, including handling customer phone calls and using GPS devices.
- Assist the driver with route planning and navigation to optimize delivery efficiency.
- Use company-issued devices for communication and delivery recordkeeping.
- Minimum of 1 year delivery or warehouse experience preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items safely.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with GPS devices and basic electronic communication tools.
- Ability to read and comprehend packing slips, sales orders, and delivery documents.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions.
- Ability to lift, carry, and unload heavy merchandise up to 60 lbs or 100 lbs with 2-person lift
- Ability to wear required safety gear including work boots, hard hats, safety glasses, and safety vests.
Salary $20.00 - $23.00
