Are you interested in providing a variety of attendance, payroll and personnel services to the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services? If so, join the Roy McMurtry Youth Centre.
About the job    Prepare a variety of documents for managers and staff e.g. orientation/induction packages, WEAR forms, termination packages
Provide information to managers and staff in a 24-7 youth facility on terms and conditions of employment according to collective agreements and HR and payroll policies
Respond to manager and staff regarding payroll and HR concerns, research and rectify problems
Calculate, prepare and enter payroll information on a variety of source documents
Manually record, schedule, regular and overtime hours of staff
Record and reconcile attendance information for staff
Maintain a bring-forward system for staff contracts, acting assignments, merits, leave absences, etc.
What you bring to the team    Technical Knowledge    You have knowledge of Collective Agreements, practices and procedures pertaining to personnel, payroll and attendance to calculate pay entitlements,
You have knowledge of attendance processes and WIN procedures to record and reconcile attendance information
You have the knowledge and ability to conduct calculations for merits, determine seniority dates and attendance credits
Computer Skills    You have knowledge of computer software such as word processing, electronic mail, report generation and tracking systems and spreadsheets (i.e. Internet, Word, Outlook PowerPoint and Excel)
You have the ability to input data into a computerized payroll system such as Payroll and Human Resources Information Systems (i.e. WIN), verify information and prepare reports
You can utilize office equipment such as photocopier, telephone and facsimile
Communication Skills    You have oral communication skills to explain HR, pay and attendance procedures and issues to managers/ staff, and interpersonal skills and tact to deal with manager/staff to resolve problems
You have written communication skills to prepare general correspondence, e-mails and generate reports from information databases
Organizational, Analytical and Problem Solving Skills    You have reasoning skills and good judgement to ensure confidentiality and determine extent of information provided in response to inquiries
You have reasoning and problem solving skills to convert attendance information into payroll entitlements and verify accuracy and resolve errors and discrepancies
You have organizational and priority setting skills so that payroll is processed on time
You have analytical skills to identify errors and take initiative to amend the errors with designated payroll contacts
Mathematical Skills    You have mathematical skills to conduct calculations and apply relevant formulas related to payroll and attendance functions
