Reporting to the College Librarian and utilizing a service excellence approach, this position shares responsibility for providing public services (in person and by distance), to all library patrons. Duties include circulation functions, answering phones and giving general directional information to patrons, assisting library patrons with printing, scanning, & photocopying. This position provides support to other areas of the library as required.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs circulation duties in support of the library’s public service operations including:
- Charging and discharging materials, performing renewals, holds and item updates using the integrated library system (ILS);
- Shelving materials and maintaining correct order of materials on shelves.
- Providing general orientation, direction, and instruction to library patrons.
- Maintaining and demonstrating peripheral equipment to patrons (copiers, printers, scanners, microfilm reader, etc.)
- Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Ability to work proficiently with Integrated Library System (ILS) software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Ability to work in a multi-tasking environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good physical condition
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma, some college or university preferred.
- 1 year of experience in a Library or other public service position.
This is a sessional, part-time position (20 hrs/week), commencing August 31, 2026. Salary will be Pay Grade 3, $26.86 per hour in accordance with the PPWC Collective Agreement.
