Position:
Senior Advisor – Advanced Manufacturing

Job Type: Full Time (Temporary)

Responsibilities
Provide strategic direction to the Market Expansion & Business Advisory Team.
Develop and deliver innovative programming to support local companies in defence, space, and advanced manufacturing sectors.
Offer hands‑on advisory services to assess readiness, develop new products, strengthen supply chains, and adopt new technologies.
Identify opportunities in space, defence, advanced manufacturing, and related sectors; guide companies through federal procurement and funding processes.
Build and sustain long‑term relationships with industry, government partners, and sector groups.
Lead outreach activities, missions, and events to promote the team.
Maintain compliance with security protocols and confidentiality requirements related to defence‑sector data.
Develop sector‑specific tools such as market entry guides and incentive pathways.
Provide customer service to public inquiries and support cross‑functional collaboration.
Serve as subject‑matter expert on market development, innovation readiness, and sector‑specific opportunities.
Prepare and manage budget, business cases, funding proposals, and financial reports.
Lead the team and coordinate client support, ensuring seamless service delivery.
Qualifications
Post‑secondary education in economic development, market development, investment attraction, international trade, or a related field.
3–5 years of progressive experience in economic development or related areas.
Experience delivering one‑on‑one advisory services to businesses.
Proven ability to support applications for federal and provincial funding programs.
Experience building and maintaining long‑term relationships with businesses, industry associations, and sector groups.
Strong business acumen; knowledge of economic development and local businesses.
Understanding of federal procurement or funding programmes.
Organizational skills managing documentation, correspondence, scheduling, and client follow‑up.
Knowledge of municipal, provincial, and federal government structures and legislation.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally; flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
Exceptional written and verbal English; additional languages an asset.
G Class licence and access to a vehicle an asset.
Special Requirements
Strong business acumen with ability to confidently advise companies and support complex market development activities.
Demonstrated knowledge of economic development and local businesses.
Experience participating in or organizing outreach activities, missions, events, or ecosystem‑building initiatives.
Ability to identify business needs, coordinate resources, and manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
Exceptional English skills, written and verbal.
Additional languages asset.
Frequent travel required.
G Class licence and access to a vehicle asset.
