What You’ll Do

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading daily warehouse operations with a strong focus on safety, continuous improvement, team development, and customer experience. This role also includes a high‑impact strategic initiative: leading the expansion of our facility to support full exterior door shop capabilities — a major step in strengthening our product offering and operational capacity.

Location:

This role reports to the Regional Operations Manager – Eastern Canada and is based in our Halton Hills, Ontario location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee day‑to‑day warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, inventory control, door shop and facility/equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure team members are fully trained, supported, and meeting daily/weekly performance targets.
  • Manage onboarding, new‑hire check‑ins, and annual performance reviews.
  • Partner with regional leadership to set budgets, track KPIs, and communicate performance updates.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment aligned with provincial, state, and federal regulations.
  • Execute operational plans and uphold Metrie Standard Best Practices; collaborate with Ops Excellence on new systems, processes, and improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with Sales Operations and Sales teams to meet customer service and quality expectations.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive culture rooted in Metrie’s values — driving engagement, retention, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and develop high‑potential talent for future leadership and cross‑functional roles.
  • Build and maintain strong carrier and vendor relationships.
  • Oversee vendor selection and performance for facility, equipment, and maintenance services.
  • Lead cycle counts and physical inventory processes; implement projects to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations related to people, operations, safety, and fleet management.
  • Regularly review and analyze profit and loss (P&L) statements to ensure financial performance aligns with business objectives and proactively implement strategies to meet or exceed annual budget targets.
Strategic Project:
Exterior Door Shop Expansion
  • Assessing current facility layout and operational flow
  • Designing production processes for door machining, assembly, and finishing
  • Coordinating with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders
  • Creating staffing plans, training programs, and workflow standards
  • Ensuring seamless integration of the new door shop into existing operations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience in manufacturing, production, or distribution
  • 5+ years supervisory or managerial experience
  • Strong knowledge of warehousing, logistics, operations, transportation, and supply chain principles
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change, improve processes, and interpret performance metrics
  • Experience with full staffing lifecycle (hiring, performance management, promotions, terminations)
  • Lean or continuous improvement experience; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP or WMS experience preferred
  • Ability to read and analyze operational reports (P&L, budgets, inventory, labor, turnover, engagement, expenses)
  • Knowledge of millwork or Metrie products is an asset
