As an integral member of the Rail Mechanical department, the Diesel Mechanic will focus on overhauling and servicing locomotives while adhering to Ontario Northland’s specifications. This role requires proficiency in diagnostics and the ability to utilize a range of precision instruments. Your experience with maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting will be vital for safety and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain locomotives and diesel engines
• Operate CNC and machine shop equipment for various tasks
• Utilize precision measuring tools for accurate assessments
• Report defects on locomotives and auxiliary equipment
• Adapt to new methods and specifications as required
Requirements:
• Valid Certificate of Qualification (421A, 310T, or 310S)
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in the trade
• Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills
• Solid knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
• Basic electrical and computer skills
