Third Class Stationary Plant Engineer

Operate campus heating and cooling systems at the University of Waterloo as a Third Class Stationary Engineer with maintenance expertise. This permanent, full-time role supports safe, efficient plant operations.

The Stationary Engineer Third Class maintains and repairs boilers, chillers, refrigeration units, and related equipment across campus locations. You will monitor utility plants, building automation, fire systems, and elevator services while supporting operational continuity. The position also responds to emergencies and maintains regulatory compliance.

• Maintain and repair oil and gas-fired boilers
• Operate and monitor utility plants and building systems
• Service chillers, compressors, water softeners, and refrigeration units
• Inspect building HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing components
• Respond to emergency calls, including fire alarms

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
• Ontario Third Class Operating Engineer Certificate
• Minimum two years recent certified operating experience
• Experience with boiler controls and building automation systems
• Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence or equivalent
