Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects, identifying needs and providing advice regarding financial solutions.
  • Welcome and guide customers into the branch lobby, offering advice on digital and self‑serve options to make banking easy, simple, and fast.
  • Conduct client conversations to recommend alternative banking channels, provide personal banking and investment advice, and meet transaction‑based needs with seamless execution.
  • Review customer profiles and engage in needs‑based conversations to uncover opportunities and address everyday banking plans and credit card needs.
  • Support operational activities such as inventory management, escalated service requests, follow‑up on customer applications, filing, opening, and closing activities.
  • Collaborate with BMO partners to identify referral opportunities that further grow the customer’s relationship with BMO beyond personal banking.
  • Probe to understand customer personal banking and credit card needs, integrate marketing promotions and programs into conversations, and provide strategic advice.
  • Organize work information to ensure accuracy and completeness, and take initiative to find creative approaches that make each customer’s experience feel personal.
  • Identify ways to contribute to the ongoing improvement of the overall customer experience, including business results and branch performance.
  • Work at multiple branches or through various channels based on market needs, with a schedule that may differ week to week in terms of days, hours, and shifts.
  • Follow risk and compliance processes and policies to safeguard customer assets, maintain privacy, and act in customers’ best interests.
  • Keep current with the financial services marketplace, legal and regulatory environment, and uphold the highest ethical requirements of the industry.
  • Identify and report suspicious patterns of activity related to money laundering.
  • Apply the Risk Management Framework, take measured risks while protecting the bank, and make sound, risk‑informed decisions in line with business strategy.
  • Complete complex and diverse tasks within given rules/limits, analyze issues, determine next steps, and escalate as required.
  • Take on broader work or accountabilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Typically 1–2 years of relevant experience and/or a related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Canada only:
    Registration to sell investment products completed or in progress (must complete within 12 months), as appropriate for the jurisdiction.
  • Confidence and experience with social media, tablets, smartphones, online tools and applications.
  • Experience in a consultative customer service or sales role, with a drive to deliver a personal customer experience.
  • Basic knowledge of specialized sales and business banking solutions to refer to specialists.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build rapport and connections with customers.
  • Listening, problem‑solving, and the ability to respond flexibly and creatively to new challenges.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to collaborate and work in a team‑based environment.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Basic specialized knowledge in financial products and services.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $34,750.00 – $51,800.00 (salaried). The range may vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications. Salaries for part‑time roles will be prorated based on hours. The salary listed represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
