Position:
Maintenance Heavy Duty Mechanic
Location:
Brandon, MB
Shift: Monday–Friday 7:30–3:30 (8 hours/day). Occasional overtime may be required.
Reports to:
Maintenance Supervisor
Compensation: $61.32 per hour + benefits as governed by CBA.
OverviewProvide maintenance support for the facility, including planning, scheduling, and conducting overall plant and equipment maintenance. Ensure planned and unplanned work is completed safely, efficiently, and without environmental impact.
Responsibilities- Comply with all Chemtrade EHS policies (lockout/tagout, confined space, safe work permits, fall protection, PPE, etc.).
- Conduct corrective, predictive, and preventive maintenance based on the CMMS. Continuously seek opportunities to improve the PM program.
- Perform maintenance/repairs on gas and diesel mobile equipment and aerial work platforms.
- Coordinate or complete all work generated through the Work Order system.
- Understand the function, purpose, and hazards of all equipment.
- Work with hydraulic systems.
- Assist with organization of scheduled day‑to‑day activities, emergency work and plant turnarounds.
- Assist in the management of spare parts inventory.
- Collaborate with the CMMS management group for timely WO and PM completion.
- Become competent in mechanical integrity and inspections.
- Must be a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic.
- Welding Red Seal certification is an asset.
- 3–5 years’ experience in an industrial or chemical environment is highly preferred.
- Operation of mobile equipment: aerial work platform, forklift, front‑end loader.
- Obtain various safety certifications (Confined Space, Fall Protection, Forklift, etc.).
- Excel in a team‑based, self‑managed environment.
- Excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Execute other duties assigned beyond traditional job scope.
- Assist other trades as required.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Employee must have physical strength, hand‑eye coordination and endurance.
- Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Employee is required to climb multi‑level stairs/ladders.
- Wearing site‑designated PPE at all times is required.
- Vision: close vision required.
- Occasionally spend long hours sitting in an office environment.
- Physically capable of all duties.
- Awkward or confining work spaces.
- Elevated places.

- Noisy environment.
- Dusty and chemical‑odor conditions.
- Safety requirement.

- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
