Mechanic, Trades ​/ Skilled Labor

King Spud Potato Transport ltd
is currently looking for a mechanic to join our team! We are a large scale trucking business located just outside of Carberry Manitoba that hauls all the bulk potatoes to McCain Portage and Carberry locations daily. We offer a small town, friendly work environment where you are known by your first name and not a number.

The successful candidate must :

• Have mechanical experience in the truck and trailer industry
• Be able to complete thorough diagnostic ,service and repair of trucks and trailers in our fleet to be sure they are in safe and optimal operating condition
• diagnose problems using our computer system and schematics, efficiently and correctly.
• Repair or replace damaged components on all safety work, such as brakes, suspension systems, and lights.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed by completing all daily paperwork and work orders
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, brake adjustments and tire rotations
• Have strong knowledge of diesel engine, transmission and clutch repair techniques and principles
• Have strong attention to detail to ensure repairs are done correctly ( including test drives )
• have basic knowledge of Volvo, Peterbilt and Kenworth highway tractors.
• Have knowledge of trinity trailers and van trailers or be willing to learn
• Be able to work alone efficiently or in a group setting
• Be willing to help , teach and guide less experienced individuals in our shop
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
• Have good communication skills to interact with dispatch and drivers to explain repairs and keep open line of communication
• Be willing to do on the road fixes when required if break downs occur.
• Being able to weld is an asset but not required.
• Must have valid class 5 license and a class one is an asset but not required.

King Spud hauls on average 60 loads a day and at peak season ( harvest) over 100 . We have over 40 units that require a punctual, reliable individual to help us maintain, fix and keep on the road safely.
