Nursing Instructor (On-Site)

Tampa/Brandon, FL. Rasmussen University is seeking an accomplished Bachelor, Master’s, or Doctorate‑prepared nurse passionate about helping nursing students succeed in meeting their educational goals. This position offers flexible work schedules and ongoing training and support for instructors to build upon teaching, presentation, and mentoring skills.
Instructors will teach courses in a variety of modalities while promoting and supporting the vision and mission of Rasmussen University. Typically, instructors teach 4.5‑5.5 work units each quarter, equaling a full‑time schedule.
- Use effective teaching strategies and multiple techniques; teach and model appropriate learning skills and create a conducive learning environment.
- Create high levels of student engagement through activities, community building, and student‑centered learning, including live classroom tools for synchronous sessions.
- Ensure clarity, relevance, and connection of class session objectives to course performance.
- Maintain an organized classroom and efficient use of class time.
- Demonstrate mastery and articulate skills to students.
- Play an integral role in curriculum development and assessment for their area of expertise.
- Collaborate with the Dean to create a classroom presence supporting student success.
- Provide student support and outreach, available through synchronous or asynchronous communication and meetings.
- Attend events, programmatic meetings, and committee work as agreed upon or designated by the Dean.
The instructor reports to the Nursing Administrator. Depending on location, this may be an Associate Dean of Nursing or Dean of Nursing.
Academic and Clinical Qualifications- A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
- Active RN license that has never been encumbered.
- Active CPR certification from either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
- One year clinical experience as an RN required; two or more years preferred.
- Previous teaching/training experience preferred.
- Self‑motivated, flexible, and able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation, and leadership abilities.
- Proof of professional licenses/certifications, official transcripts for each degree earned from an accredited institution, and applicable faculty immunization documentation.
