ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe essential functions of this position include operating survey instruments such as total stations, data collectors, GPS, and other standard survey equipment, collecting information required to carry out new surveys using source maps, previous survey data, photographs, computer records, and other relevant information, and compiling data necessary to stake projects for construction using engineering plans. The role also involves conducting surveys to determine the locations of natural features and man‑made structures on the Earth's surface, underground, and underwater using electronic distance measuring equipment and other surveying instruments.
Additional responsibilities include directing and supervising the day‑to‑day work of subordinate surveying party members, laying out grids, determining horizontal and vertical controls, maintaining survey equipment and vehicles, and performing all other duties as assigned.
- 5+ years of surveying experience with a strong working knowledge of surveying equipment
- Detail oriented, with the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Knowledge of Nikon Nivo or Trimble Robot equipment is a plus
- Ability to review and understand written civil construction and architectural plans and specifications
- Availability to work overtime as needed, with the ability to travel for overnight assignments
- Must possess a HS Diploma or equivalent; AAS in Surveying is a plus
- Possession of or ability to obtain OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety Certification and applicable scaffolding training certifications
- Valid, clean driver's license is required
While performing the essential functions, the employee is required to remain stationary for prolonged periods, handle and inspect documents, materials, or equipment relevant to the job, and process manual and computer-generated reports. The employee must frequently move around the job site, including ascending or descending terrain and positioning themselves to access necessary materials and equipment, sometimes in hazardous conditions such as woods, water, or snow.
The employee must often lift and/or move equipment up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 75 lbs. The position involves regularly operating a motor vehicle and requires good vision and depth perception to detect non‑conformities. Substance abuse testing may be required in accordance with project requirements, US DOT regulations, and/or company policy.

Pay Range: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
