Material Handler - Brandon, MS

Overview

The 1st shift Material Handler will report to the Warehouse Manager in the plant. This person is responsible for maintaining and verifying the records and documentation of outbound shipments from the lines and keeping stock for all stations within the department.

Hours:

M-F, 8am-5pm.

• Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site, following work orders or instructions to ascertain materials to be moved.
• Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
• Conveys materials to or from storage or work sites to designated areas using a forklift, hand truck, electric dolly, or other device.
• Occasionally operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
• Fills out a daily inspection before starting up the forklift.
• Assists with routine housekeeping tasks as they relate to the plants 6S plan.
• Ensures compliance with corporate and plant safety standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation, and ability to multi-task.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 2 years of forklift experience, ideally in a metal fabrication shop
• Experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous experience moving large metal objects.
• Previous experience working in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
