The Gift Shop Associate will help promote all aspects of The Mustard Seed including but not limited to greeting customers, responding to questions, improving engagement with merchandise along with knowing the story behind our Seedsters and the Mustard Seed. Selling and assisting our shoppers’ needs along with all others that come in to the Office/Gift Shop to do other duties on our Mustard Seed campus.

Promote a high level of customer service by ensuring customers are assisted in an enthusiastic, timely, and knowledgeable manner. Gift Shop Associate is responsible for working with marketing and selling items for the Gift Shop and assisting with other Gift Shop related tasks as needed.

• Enthusiastic, friendly and energetic with a genuine desire to provide outstanding service
• Ability to multi-task, while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business
• Operating cash register, managing financial transactions & balancing the drawer
• Directing customers to merchandise within the store
• Superior product knowledge
• Maintaining an orderly & tidy appearance throughout the sales floor
• Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision
• Assist customers with ceramic purchases and gift wrapping
• Pack ceramics for off-site shows
• Manage special orders
• Available to work a variety of hours, which would include working Gift Shop on Second Saturday of each month in addition to other Saturdays through Spring and Holidays
• Available to work off campus events as needed
• Provide ideas for new products and reproduced items
• Any other duties and tasks set forth by Executive Director

• Excellent communication skills
• Knowledgeable about Point-of-Sale systems
• Two years of prior retail experience
• Must be available to work a minimum of three days a week (including occasional Saturdays)
• Ability to work well as a team member, accepts constructive feedback, and follows directions
• Strong project management and time management The Gift Shop Associate must have the ability to work within tight time lines
• Physical demands:
  This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing and standing for at least two consecutive hours. Occasionally involves stooping, kneeling, crouching and climbing ladders
• Energetic and creative attitude with a strong customer-service orientation; enthusiasm for the mission of the Mustard Seed and willingness to fully contribute to a team-oriented, fast-paced organization
• Follow store housekeeping and maintenance standards and procedures
  
  Ability to be trained to perform CPR, transport and care for Seedsters during an emergency situation as well as to drive a 15-passenger van
