Day Camp Counselor

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in Branford, CT for a Day Camp Counselor at the Soundview Family YMCA. The Day Camp Counselor will lead and supervise children in daily camp activities, including sports, arts & crafts, games, and team-building exercises. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a safe and positive environment, actively engaging with campers, planning and preparing activities, and fostering youth development through mentorship and guidance.

The role requires collaboration with other staff to ensure enriching experiences for all participants.

Qualifications

• Experience working in camp settings and proficiency in planning and conducting engaging activities.
• Skills in leading Arts & Crafts activities to foster creativity in children.
• Strong Communication abilities for engaging with children, parents, and team members effectively.
• Knowledge of Youth Development principles and experience in Childcare settings.
• Ability to maintain a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for children.
• Prior experience working within a camp or recreational program is highly beneficial.
• Flexibility, positive attitude, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment.
