Position Overview:
Branford Public Schools seeks an innovative and student-centered Athletic Director and Coordinator of Health and Physical Education to lead a comprehensive, well-resourced grades 5-12 program with strong community pride and support. This leadership role offers the opportunity to build on a solid foundation while shaping the future of athletics, health, and physical education as essential components of the District's educational mission.

Supervision received:
Supervision from the Superintendent of Schools or Designee
Salary Range: $
- Essential Duties:
* Provide visionary leadership for a vertically aligned grades 5-12 athletic program that reflects the District's mission, values, and commitment to whole-child development.
* Design, implement, and sustain a cohesive athletic pathway that emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship, wellness, and positive youth experiences at every level.
* Collaborate with youth sports organizations and feeder programs to ensure alignment of philosophy, expectations, and long-term athlete development.
* Lead the development, enhancement, and evaluation of athletic programs to expand access, increase participation, and respond to evolving student and community needs.
* Recruit, develop, support, and evaluate coaches who demonstrate excellence, professionalism, and a student-centered approach to athletics.
* Foster strong community partnerships and serve as an ambassador for the athletic program with families, alumni, booster groups, and local organizations.
* Provide strategic oversight of athletic facilities, resources, and operations, including long-range planning for facility improvements and program sustainability.
* Champion access, inclusion, safety, and innovation to enhance the student-athlete experience and shape the future of school athletics.
* Ensure compliance with District policies, league regulations, and State and national athletic association requirements.
* Communicate effectively and transparently with stakeholders to build trust, alignment, and shared ownership of program success.
* Liaise with District and building administration to inform the development of health and physical education programming and support the evaluation of the health and physical education teachers in the District.
Qualifications:
* CT Endorsements 092 (required), 043 or 044 (preferred)
* Masters degree in Related Field
* Relevant experience in Athletics/Coaching
* Excellent Communication and Collaboration Skills

There is regular intermittent exposure to computer screen. Performs duties in an office environment. Uses repetitive motions in operating office equipment, including keyboards, calculators, fax machines and copiers. Frequent lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds). Specific vision abilities required by this position include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
