Elementary Behavior Skills Para educator
(Multiple Openings)
10-month position
Hourly Rate: $19.37 per bargaining unit contract
Must have an academic degree or have earned at least 60 college credits, or have passed the Para Pro assessment
Position Summary:
The Behavior Skills Para educator provides direct support to elementary students within general education classrooms. This role is focused on helping students develop prosocial behaviors, social-emotional functioning, and self-regulation skills, ensuring they are set up for academic and personal success. Working in collaboration with classroom teachers and the District's Behavior Interventionist, the Behavior Skills Para educator plays a key role in fostering an inclusive, safe, supportive, and collaborative learning environment where all students can thrive.
Example of Essentials Duties:
* Support students in developing and practicing behavior regulation and social-emotional skills within the classroom setting.
* Collaborate with the Behavior Interventionist to implement strategies that promote positive behavior and student engagement.
* Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students who need additional guidance in meeting behavior and social expectations.
* Assist in reinforcing classroom routines, expectations, and interventions that align with school-wide behavior plans.
* Monitor student progress, document observations, and communicate effectively with staff to support ongoing planning and intervention.
* Model positive relationships, empathy, patience, and problem-solving strategies for students.
