English Learner Para educator

Branford Public Schools is seeking an English Learner (EL) Para educator for the  school year. This is a 10-month position with an hourly rate of $19.37 pending union negotiations. Candidates fluent in Spanish, Arabic, and Nepali are strongly encouraged to apply. To qualify, you must have an academic degree or have earned at least 60 college credits, or have passed the Para Pathways (formerly Para Pro) assessment.

Examples of essential duties include:

• Providing supplemental instruction for identified EL students under the direction of the EL and classroom teacher in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
• Assisting the teacher in establishing and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Assisting the teacher with classroom duties, setup, and preparing and maintaining classroom materials and supplies.
• Providing specific modifications and/or accommodations for assigned student(s), which can include repeating directions, performing task analysis, reading assignments or tests, documenting instructions, and organizing homework assignments.
