Job SummaryWe are looking for a Laser Weld Machine Operator Trainee to join our Weekend Crew. The weekend schedule is 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM Saturday and Sunday. In addition, the trainee will work either one 12‑hour day or two 6‑hour days Monday through Friday, based on preference. Total work hours are 36 hours per week with compensation for 40 hours, a full‑time position.
Job Responsibilities- Review work instructions stored electronically and written in English to ensure compliance with product requirements.
- Operate the laser‑beam machine to weld metal components.
- Position metal components in fixtures and place them on the fixture‑holding table inside the cavity.
- Type instructions into the computer to move the fixture‑holding table to operative position.
- Use the computer to sight reference marks and controls to move the fixture to the welding position.
- Initiate the weld cycle and return the fixture‑holding table to the unload position.
- Complete related paperwork (routers, daily log sheets, etc.) following standard operating procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adhere to all company safety rules and practices and wear protective equipment as directed.
- Perform other duties as needed or directed by management.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Position involves access to export‑controlled items; employment contingent upon lawful access.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.; employment eligibility verified visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–3 years of manufacturing experience highly desired.
- Experience running manufacturing equipment, advanced math skills, and leadership qualities preferred.
- Ability to perform precision laser powder blending tasks.
- Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence or documentation.
- Good math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide) using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Apply common sense to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions; handle problems with a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Maintain organizational skills for records and reports.
The employee will work in a shop environment with exposure to loud noise, heat/fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and moving mechanical parts with a risk of electrical shock. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Salary & Benefits- Compensation starts at $22.00 per hour plus a $3.00 shift differential when assigned to the weekend crew.
- External hires eligible for a $1,000 sign‑on bonus after successful completion of six months.
