Overview
Connecticut Orthopaedics Specialists is seeking a part-time Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) for our surgery center located in Branford, CT. The Staff Nurse provides care to patients 12+ through assessment, planning, treatment, and evaluation, delivering safe, knowledgeable, compassionate, educative, individualized, and goal-directed nursing care to patients and their families in the Center.
Responsibilities- Correlate clinical data with patient’s medical and nursing care.
- Set priorities and provide direction to others that is clear, concise, and promotes efficiency across clinical areas.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, teammates, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Recognize legal and policy limits of individual practice.
- Assess, plan, evaluate, and ensure implementation of the patient’s care to achieve identified outcomes and deliver safe care according to facility policy and procedures.
- Assess patient status on admission and on an ongoing basis.
- Implement appropriate standards of care based on assessment data and patient goals.
- Coordinate nursing interventions to achieve outcomes and readiness for discharge.
- Provide care daily in an organized and timely manner and adhere to facility policies and procedures.
- Utilize nursing care standards in planning and implementing patient care.
- Demonstrate the ability to direct and provide for patient care in emergency situations.
- Assess learning needs according to patient’s level of understanding and readiness to learn.
- Evaluate patient progress toward outcomes and revise plans of care as patient status changes or new information is obtained.
- Document patient progress toward outcomes and supervise teaching of care plans.
- Contribute to quality improvement by participating in monitoring and evaluation of nursing care, and assign patient care responsibilities based on patient needs and staff capabilities.
- Accept charge nurse responsibilities as assigned and participate in facility-level problem solving and quality initiatives.
- Branford, CT
- 20 hours per week
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in PACU, ER, or ICU settings.
- Current state licensure to practice.
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) / Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment, or documentation of current certification.
- Successful completion of ACLS within 90 days of employment, or documentation of current certification.
- Successful completion of PALS within 90 days of employment, or documentation of current certification.
